Fort Bend County Brandt Road Construction Update

Fort Bend County has posted advanced notice signage regarding road closures for the Brandt Road Mobility Project adjoining Long Meadow Farms. Based on advanced warning sign, drivers on James Long Parkway will encounter a detour beginning on August 26th. Based on additional information obtained from Fort Bend County, a complete road closure will also occur during the phased construction of a roundabout at the intersection of James Long Parkway and Skinner Lane.

Fort Bend County Engineering has provided the following Project information for distribution to FBCMUD 146 residents. Please be aware that all timeframes stated herein are subject to change based on weather and other factors that may affect the construction. The phased construction of the Project is planned to proceed as follows:

  • Phase 1 – On August 26th a traffic detour will be implemented closing Skinner Lane south of the James Long Parkway. Skinner Road will also be closed to thru traffic north of Frost School Road (entrance to Texana). During Phase 1, James Long Parkway traffic will be detoured easterly along the newly constructed segment of Brandt Road to Mason Road. The traffic signal at Mason and Brandt Lane will be activated when the Phase 1 detour is initiated. This detour is anticipated to remain in place for approximately four (4) to five (5) weeks until construction of the southerly portion of the roundabout is completed.
  • Phase 2 – Once the concrete placed during Phase 1 can be opened to traffic, the Phase 2 closure will be initiated. Phase 2 will include the complete closure of James Long Parkway at Skinner Lane. During Phase 2, ALL Long Meadow Farms traffic will be required to exit the subdivision via Winston Ranch Parkway. The Phase 2 closure is expected to be in place for approximately three (3) to four (4) weeks, subject to weather.

Once the intersection construction is complete, traffic will open with the new roundabout at this location. After construction, drivers will have the option to access Mason Road via Brandt Road or Skinner Lane.

Fort Bend County asks that drivers observe construction signage, follow the detour routes and drive safely to protect construction workers and other drivers in and around the work zone. Fort Bend County will be monitoring the detours and construction activities in the area to address problems that may arise.
